For over two
years, isolation, masks, and unknown peril has stalked the entire
world population. Peace of heart, mind and spirit seems elusive as
we focus on survival. Where can we find hope through these times of
peril? The Scriptures reveal the many aspects of God’s character
and as we focus on who God is, it changes our perspective. It
enables us to shift our focus from what we can do to what God can
do.
Humanity faces peril of many kinds. As you explore the attributes of God presented in this book, the presence, power, and purposes of God are revealed. A knowledge of His presence enables us to trust Him to bring us through whatever peril we face.
I pray that as you read, you will be encouraged and equipped to know God intimately and to believe and trust Him fully. Focus on God. Know who He is. Experience peace of heart, mind, and spirit as you discover that through times of peril and at all times the fullness of God’s presence brings peace.
You have shown me the way of life, and you will fill me with the joy of your presence.
Psalms 16:11
God is Present
In his writings, The Practice of the Presence of God, Brother Lawrence shares how he learned to have a continual yet simple conversation with God throughout his day of washing plates and cooking. He states, “Our only business is to love and delight ourselves in God,” and he suggests that we can praise God, adore Him and do all that we do, “only for the love of God.” In our busy lives filled with challenges, schedules and duties, is it possible to have such a mindset? When we acknowledge that moment by moment God is more than just “with us,” His Spirit resides “within us,” then we will experience a breakthrough of trust, faith, obedience and desire to honor God. The promise of peace will become the welcome resident within our heart as we acknowledge that God is here – now and always. God is Present.
Deuteronomy 31:6 (ESV) Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread..., for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.
